After a period of silence, the cameras are rolling once again. The Video Production Club has officially reinstated weekly video announcements, bringing a refreshed and collaborative approach to campus communication. Beginning Monday, February 23, students will once again see video announcements airing in their third period classes.
The revival of the announcements began on February 20, when members of the Video Production Club gathered in the studio to begin production on what they are calling a “new and improved” broadcast. The meeting marked more than just another filming session, it represented the return of a campus tradition designed to keep students informed, involved, and connected.
This relaunch is not the effort of one group alone. The Video Production Club worked closely with Journalism, ASB, FNL, and the Student Ambassador to ensure that the announcements reflect the full scope of campus life. By combining efforts across organizations, the team has created a more unified and professional production that highlights student activities, upcoming events, important reminders, and school-wide initiatives.
The goal of reinstating video announcements is simple: to improve communication across campus while also giving students a more engaging way to receive information. Instead of relying solely on written bulletins or verbal reminders, the video format allows announcements to be visually dynamic and easier to follow. It also gives students hands-on experience in filming, directing, editing, and on-camera presentation.
Behind the scenes, club members took on a variety of roles during the February 20 production session. Students worked as camera operators, directors, audio technicians, and on-screen anchors. Each role plays a crucial part in ensuring that the final broadcast is polished and professional. The collaborative effort mirrors real-world production environments, giving members valuable experience in teamwork and time management.
With the first official broadcast airing on February 23, the Video Production Club hopes the return of weekly announcements will become a consistent and anticipated part of campus culture. From highlighting sports games and club meetings to promoting special events and academic deadlines, the video announcements are designed to serve the entire student body.
Students and staff are encouraged to tune in every Monday during third period to stay updated. Teachers will air the announcements in their classrooms, allowing everyone to receive the same information at the same time. This consistency helps ensure that no important detail is overlooked.
However, the success of the video announcements depends on participation from the wider school community. In order for events and updates to be included in the following week’s broadcast, all announcements must be submitted in the official Morning Announcements document by the appropriate deadline. Without submission, events cannot be guaranteed a spot in the video.
This system allows the production team to organize content efficiently, plan filming schedules, and maintain a high-quality final product. It also reinforces the importance of communication and responsibility between student organizations and the Video Production Club.
The reinstatement of video announcements represents more than just a technical upgrade. It reflects a commitment to student leadership, collaboration, and school spirit. By working together across clubs and programs, students are creating a platform that informs, connects, and celebrates the Gilbert community.
As the semester continues, viewers can expect ongoing improvements in presentation style, editing, and content variety. The Video Production Club is focused not only on delivering information but also on making each broadcast engaging and visually professional.
So, when Monday arrives, be ready. The announcements are back: filmed, edited, and produced by students, for students. And if you want your event featured next week, make sure it’s submitted in the Morning Announcements document in time.
Lights on. Cameras ready. Gilbert’s weekly video announcements have officially returned.
