On lunar new year the year of the fire horse, students and staff from room 12 formed a coalition and called themselves the “Music in Me” team. They joined ASB for a song writing workshop lead by music instructor Ms. Frese.
This workshop was the first of its kind allowing students in 3rd period clubs to brainstorm for the lyrics they hope will represent them. The hope is that every club will be represented on campus with a song of their own. These songs will then be recorded in the music studio Club 33 1/3.
Students and staff split into groups to have a 2 minute discussion on their ideas of what a song for ASB should look like. Students gathered ideas from all across the room, from their favorite songs, from what they believe the song should sound like. Students then came together and added all their notes onto a poster with the goal of it becoming a song.
Next steps for ASB include a follow up meeting to finalize lyrics and musical composition ideas. Then they will be slated to record in the music studio the song they wrote. Music appreciation students and Arts Assistants will be helping guide the process.
So far ASB has decided they want an energetic, uplifting, and upbeat song with lyrics that highlight key words like ASB, teamwork, and leadership. Students working on the project include Nathan Marcroft, Jenifer Lopez, Alexis Renteria, Rihanna, and Joshua Ramirez
The next stop for the traveling minstrels is this Wednesday’s session in room 38 with Ms. Resch and the FNL club. The hope is that all clubs on campus will join in by creating their original jingle and be represented with a song.
