Today, The Kiwanis Club of Greater Anaheim awarded scholarships ($1500) to ten graduating Gilbert seniors. The awards were based on attendance, grades, behavior, and community service.
Mr. Glenn organized the event and chaired the committee which selected the students who were nominated by their teachers, and submitted their applications.
He said, “I want to thank all of the teachers, counselors, and administrators for your scholarship recommendations. Please congratulate these students when you see them.”
The awarding of the scholarships took place during a ceremony in the Family Center today, attended by the students, several Kiwanis members, our assistant principals, two AUHSD School Board members, and several teachers and support staff.
There were donuts and coffee shared, and good conversations. Each student was asked to share their plans for their life after high school and each was given an envelope with instructions for utilizing their grant funds.
The quote of the day was shared by the Kiwanis Club President who spoke about his inspiring friendship with his mentor, David Chavez, who said, “Your attitude becomes the level of your altitude,” meaning, there is nothing you can’t do when you have the right attitude.
