Gilbert High School, Government, and a unique Youth Program
At Gilbert High School, we are proud to present the Youth in Government Day program, directed by School Community Coordinator Erica Hernandez and Y/GD Committee Coordinator Sarahi Carrillo.
Their goal is to educate the next generation on how local government operates while introducing students to various career paths within the City of Anaheim.
Explore your future. One of the key ways students get involved is by choosing a specific career path to explore. You will be taken on a field trip to visit the department you selected. For example, if you choose Fire and Rescue, you will visit a fire station; if you select the Police Department, you will visit the police station.
Available departments include:
-
Community Services
-
Public Works
-
Police Department
-
Fire and Rescue
-
Public Utilities
-
Housing and Community Development
Why participate? This event is about more than just observing. It gives you the opportunity to network with city staff and elected officials, connect with students from other schools, and engage directly in local government. It is an excellent way to spot potential career opportunities and potentially earn community service hours.
Don’t worry about going hungry, either free lunch is provided for all students while they learn, and there will be giveaways at the event
How to apply if you are asking yourself how to get in on this action, you will need to submit an application.
