Black History Month

Black History Month

February is Black History Month!

Black History Month is celebrated in February. It is celebrated to recognize the accomplishments and honor the African Americans and what they have done here in the US and made change to help all African Americans in the world. Some Inspirational people we celebrate are Martin Luther King, Who fought for equal rights for black people in the 50’s and 60’s and delivered one of the most famous speech in history and changed many peoples perspective with it. Another person we honor is Thurgood Marshall, He was the first African American justice appointed to the United States Supreme Court. Mae Jemison who became the first female African American to travel into space back in 1992. Another honoring person that is celebrated is Barack Obama who was the first African American US president to be elected. Overall these are amazing people who really made a change in the African American community and we show gratitude in celebrating them and many more!
