California has been graced with the wetness and sounds of the pitter-pattering rain! It doesn’t rain like this often, but some are grateful when it does. The rain has been coming down in intervals it seems, but in those short intervals a lot of heavy rain is coming down.

The rain is flooding the streets and overflowing the drainage due to the debris and trash in the drains that haven’t been cleaned out. While thunder and lighting  might excite you,  I would advise you to be cautious when out in the rain.

While the rain can be good for some areas, other areas are suffering from the rain. San Francisco has been flooded as of two days ago. Santa Barbara, Montecito, and parts of Ventura and North Los Angeles counties are facing evacuation orders. Our local beaches are also on guard with sand bags and flood warnings. The rain in some areas can be seen as high up as the windows of normal sized cars. While San Francisco has flooding, other areas have mudslide warnings and other water warnings in many other areas.

When I was younger we used to say the rhyme, “It’s raining it’s pouring the old man is snoring. He went to bed, he bumped his head. He couldn’t get up in the morning” and every time it rains I always hear it in my head, which brings back fond childhood memories.

The bottom line is this, while the old man couldn’t watch his surroundings, you can. Be aware of your surroundings, and don’t speed or break too fast while it’s raining. As well as people in the air. People are still flying back home from the holidays with the family or vis versa . All follow with caution and please stay safe.
