Bioluminescent waves in California

In California beaches many people went to try to get a glimpse of the blue glowing waves despite the quarantine. The bioluminescent waves are caused by a certain algae and while this phenomenon is certainly a spectacle the crowds it draws in are alarming during this pandemic. Since some beaches plan on opening up soon with some restrictions more people will likely gather for this in particular. The glowing organisms in the So-Cal waters is not toxic and many swimmers and surfers had taken this chance to indulge in this rare sight. Its not certain how long the beaches will stay this way but scientists that have been studying this event for years say that it can last between a week to a month or even longer.
