Privacy Lost

Privacy Lost

Juan Alcala

In this day in age when talking about privacy the main topic brought up is the lack of it in today’s world. Do we even have privacy when it comes to an online presence even if we try to be discreet or private? Monitoring personal information is an issue, but why and how is it happening?

When we think of the internet we think about how vast and fulfilling it is. There is another factor to the internet that really isn’t the first thought of people, and that is about our personal privacy and if we still have privacy in the modern world. In an article written by Time, it reveals the truth about internet privacy and how much we actually give away on a daily basis. In the article it reveals how we just give it away for what seems to be free and without much or any hesitation. This seems to be really odd, because in a research paper written by Pewresearch found that being in control of who can get information about us is “very important” to 74% of Americans.

What we can do about this (if there really even is a solution) is know what we do and be more vigilant online. If we want to protect our privacy, we got to start to make it seem like we care.
