On April 12,2024 the ELLA Sports Foundation (Empowering Learning of Latina Athletes) came to Gilbert High School. The ELLA foundation works on developing leadership in Latina athletes through education, training, mentorship, and advocacy in the sports community.
A representative, Patty Godoy-Traviso, came to talk to a large group of Gilbert female athletes in a group explaining what their foundation does, and giving girls the opportunity to hear about innovations and stories in sports.
ELLA wants young Latina athletes to have the same opportunities she had across all sports. Patty wants all Latina athletes to have the mentorship and support they need to dream big and achieve their goals.
By sharing her story, she gave an inspiring announcement stating that she was going to donate $5,000 worth of all different sports equipment to show her support for female Gilbert athletes.
We thank the ELLA foundation. They have shown us different opportunities by giving us a chance to be a part of something new. This is a step towards empowerment, encouraging students to stay engaged in school through sports.
The ELLA foundation donation will support our young women in their development of life skills, as well as a boost for success in their future.
