On Monday, the 15th of January, there will be no school because Martin Luther King’s birthdays falls on that day. This is a national holiday that gives students and all government employees the day off of school.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929. Sadly, his life ended April 4, 1968.
Martin Luther King’s dream is one we should all remember and strive to live up to:
…Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quick sands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children…
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be engulfed, every hill shall be exalted and every mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together. This is our hope.
