The Gladiator Flag Football team braved the excessively high heat today in a close game vs. La Vista at home. La Vista scored early and the game stayed locked at a score of 6-0. By high noon it seemed both teams were feeling the tense competitive energy of the contest, but neither team was any match for the sun today.
“We tried our best. It was hot. The kids were fast on the other team, but we managed to pull some flags and hold them to just 6 points. They were good and could have scored more, but we kept them there,” Scarlet Macias, number 12, and the center on the team, explained.
Matteo Nuno, went out in the fourth quarter with an injury and had to be transported to the health office. We hope he will be okay, and able to return to the starting roster soon. The MVP of the game was Fernando Barragan. Gilbert High School congratulates Fernando and wishes the entire team the best of luck and good spirit as they head into practices and preparations for their next matchup.
Coach O.G. added, “The team is working hard, and they all have good grades so far, so we have a good solid baseline.”
