Since its creation, people have been using social media to share news and information, however, the reliability and authenticity of this information has been questionable. A complete lack of any regulations and how easy it is to spread any information, whether it be real or fake, has lead to a flood of fake news on the internet. Some of this fake news is obviously not real, and is made for entertainment purposes but there are some accounts sharing fake news that isn’t so obvious, these are often related to politics or celebrities. These types of articles and posts are often published with the goal of ruining someones reputation and making them look bad. A few ways to determine if a source is reliable are, checking to see if there is any information on the author, are they a news company who also airs on TV?( TV news networks need a license from the government), is anyone else posting the same thing? Are there any ads or companies tagged in the post/caption that are directly benefiting? These are all important things to know in order to get reliable information and to avoid infallible sources
