The only reason that all the schools in the Anaheim District did the walkouts was because a teacher in Buena Park HS had posted a picture of the Mexican flag captioning it “If y’all have flags, I will burn them for you! This is America. They are deporting criminals!” This is what caused students from Buena Park High School to spread what had been said around the Orange County area.
Students from Loara High School in Anaheim started posting and planning a huge walkout for students to join in. The Ball Junior High School students joined them as well as Gilbert High School students. We took our flags and our posters and protested our rights and our family’s rights down to city hall. Once we were close to city hall we ran into another big group and walked and protested to city hall all together as one. I like to think that teachers agree with us when we do the walkouts. I know that some don’t like that students walk out of their class or school grounds, but they need to understand that we are doing this to be heard.
We students do this to speak up for those who can’t speak up for themselves or those who are afraid to speak up. We are standing against what’s going on and showing we care for our Raza and family!
There is going to be another walkout today Friday, February 28th at 10:30 during our third period. It will be the same peaceful protest where we are walking for a purpose.
