Since August, Project Hope has been working with our students on Wednesdays in the library during lunch and after school to help with academics and overall wellness. This week was their last week of the 2024 semester.
Project Hope staff thanked everyone for attending the last sessions, especially the Thanksgiving-themed activities.
For the final session, students were invited to join in celebrating the holiday spirit with candy canes, gingerbread houses, Christmas music, and holiday cheer. A fun time was enjoyed as everyone moved toward winter break. In addition to the festivities, normal services were also provided for students who needed help with any school work, financial aid, and more.
Gilbert High School’s Week 10 is also the end of the Fall Quarter for UCLA, so the Project HOPE volunteers had to say farewell for now. Tayshon Kim said, “These past ten weeks have been some of the best fun I’ve had so far, and I want to thank y’all for being so welcoming and open to having Project HOPE at Gilbert. I hope our visits have been helpful, insightful, and fun for y’all, and I look forward to what’s in store for the winter and spring quarters!”
Here are some of the best moments from the past several weeks:
Project HOPE offers Mentorship
Project HOPE has a great opportunity for GHS students to me mentored by students from UCLA. Volunteers are paired with students to build a personalized, 1-on-1 relationship, in which they can have one person to go to for assistance, advice, and guidance throughout the year.
