Students got to participate in a small group Thursday during 3rd period inside the community center to sit and talk about how they feel at Gilbert. Some of the questions were do you feel safe at Gilbert, do you regularly attend school, what motivates you to come to school etc..
This small event was for the students to have a voice and opinion and how they feel now that they’re attending Gilbert high school and what are things they think should improve within our school. I think it is very important to do this because this means the school cares about our opinions and is trying to make the school a better learning environment for the students.
I was present in this event and was able to give an opinion as well and while I was there I carefully listened to what kids were saying and the main topic I heard many students talk about is how they feel comfortable and welcomed by the staff and teachers at Gilbert high school. Every student that talked about this always mentioned how the teachers are very supportive, helpful and most importantly very understanding.
Overall little events like this should happen more often because it really does help the school when they want to know what they can do to improve our educational environment and how to make us feel more welcomed.
