September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time for communities to come together, provide outlets for help, advocate for mental health awareness, and spread hope all around to those in need of support to prevent suicide and promote resources for the public. Everyday many individuals face challenges with depression, anxiety or lifestyles that can trigger feeling alone or hopeless.
There has been an increase in depression 1 in every 3 Americans experience symptoms of depression according to the Research of Boston University.
This month and beyond, communities like ours are all coming together to talk about the importance of mental health. In these times many students have felt alone or depressed. Students who have a hard time with their feelings also have difficulty succeeding in schoolwork or other tasks.
We use up all our time stressing, using our energy into negativity we sometimes forget to just be here now. Be Here Now a book by one of my favorite writers was a spiritual teacher and understood the importance to have peace of mind. Learning to become mindful and being present with yourself. Be here free from ego, from from thought, free from ideas about your self, free of your emotions.
Being here now, Being where you’re supposed to be whether your going through something at school. There are resources, people to talk to and ways to cope even if the world doesn’t stop for you that doesn’t mean you are alone.
