It all started with El Mercadito food pantry serving the community and providing food. So they decided to extend that mission and build a garden. They had students come in and help. When they began they didn’t really have anything to start with. So they called people back to back for mulch, wood and cardboard.
Not having much luck at first but after not giving up they ended up getting donations. As they worked together they socially interacted with one another exposed to nature and sunlight. Working hard and time passing, the garden finally came together with fresh produce for families facing food insecurity. Not only for the community but also local organizations and volunteers.
