In the front of Gilbert High School there is a beautiful mural also known as the peace wall that the students and staff created to express their view on what they believe peace looks like to them. The Mural is full of unique designs and drawings from the help of multiple students. There are words and phrases that have very deep and beautiful meanings that take up the entire wall.
The Peace Wall was approved to start last year 2024 and is fully completed now, the school is very happy with the turnout of this beautiful mural. The students at Gilbert High School were given the opportunity to draw and submit what they believed peace looked and felt like to them. The staff and students later on picked the top 10 designs they felt were best to put on the wall to represent the school as a whole. The muralist hired to paint the mural was a former teacher at Gilbert High School. Her name is Jamie Kough and she also included the students in the process of painting as well by having the students join her in the painting of the mural.
Gilbert plans on doing more murals to add to their school with the help of the students here so if you would be interested make sure to turn in a piece of art you would like to add to your community when the next project is announced. There are still many more places to add more art on campus. Make sure to be a part of the next piece of art yet to come.
